Our State Fair is a Great State Fair...

So you'll be in town just in time for the Great Minnesota Get-Together. Lucky you!

The State Fair is a big deal here in Minnesota. It's the largest in the country in terms of daily attendance, and it always runs for twelve days, ending on Labor Day. You can get the chance to see barns full of stinky animals, visit an all-you-can-drink milk booth, gawk at some local Minnesota celebrities (such as they are), get sick on a midway ride, visit the beer garden, take a header down the Giant Slide, watch a cow give birth, or about 80 million other things.

And did I mention the food? The Minnesota State Fair is famous for its crazy food options. We were even featured on Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmern! Some of our favorite choices include Big Fat Bacon, Sweet Martha's Cookies, and Tom Thumb Mini-Donuts. Plus, pretty much anything on a stick, including a Reuben or Spaghetti & Meatballs.

The gates open daily at 6 a.m. and close at midnight, though you can only buy tickets through 10 p.m. and most buildings are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Regular admission is $11 for adults, $9 for seniors, $8 for kids aged 5-12, and free for kids under five, but there are lots of ways to get discounted admission if you buy your tickets before the fair starts on August 26. We recommend finding a park-and-ride lot and hopping the bus to the fair to save on parking.
