The Wedding Day

Finally, we're getting married! It'll be a bit unconventional, but no worries! Here's a schedule so you know what's going on at all times. (You can find a similar schedule in your program, a.k.a. your Official Reveler's Guide.)

9:00 a.m. The Renaissance Festival gates open! There is usually a mini-pageant to get things going, complete with cannon blast. Best to get there early anyway so you don't have to walk a mile from your parking spot.

9:45 a.m. Seating begins at the Chapel Garden. The bride and groom (along with our wedding party) will have the pleasure of helping you find your seats. Sit, chat, enjoy the harp music, and meet our two wedding fairies, Rose and Brenna, who will be happy to "bless" you with their fairy bubbles.

10:00 a.m. Josh and Jen get married! The ceremony will begin right away at 10:00, and won't take more than 15 minutes. The day will be crazy and fun, but this will be time spent on something very sacred. We don't take this marriage thing lightly.

10:15 a.m. Give us a squish. We're going to need to hug (or smooch, or shake hands with, or give the Vulcan salute to) each and every one of you! That's why you came, right? Well, that and the mead.

For the remainder of the day, you can feel free to enjoy the Renaissance Festival on your own terms. See a show, watch the glass blower do his thing, stroll the Secret Garden, whatever floats your boat. But we'll post where we plan to be, so you can catch up with us anytime you want. One hint: shows which are not suitable for children will be noted on the broadsheets inside your "faire bags". A list of family-friendly activities can be found here.

11:30 a.m. Parade! We'll be meeting at Banner Oak Pottery, where Josh and Jen will be featured in the daily parade. The procession lasts about 15 minutes.

*Lunch. Josh and Jen will be eating at Oven Hill Market (where we got engaged!)

*The Washing Well Wenches. This is Jen's favorite RenFest show. It's a bit naughty, and you're likely to get hit with a few drops of water. Oh, and your sides will be aching from all that laughing you'll be doing. ;-)

*The Stocks. It's always fun to see someone you love (or even a stranger) roasted at these stocks. (Hint: the jailers are fully bribe-able.)

*Zilch the Torysteller. This is Josh's favorite RenFest show. One word: spoonerisms. Or is it noosperisms?

4:00 p.m. The Joust. This is the big event on RenFest afternoons. We may just make our escape sometime before the last knight rides.

So after all the RenFest fun, we'll be disappearing to the magical land of Stillwater, Minnesota to figure out this whole husband-and-wife thing. Thanks for coming. We love all of you. (And if you even think about drinking alcohol and then driving home, we're going to have some booty to kick!**)

*Times will be published just as soon as we get that information from our contact at the Renaissance Festival.
**Kidding. We know none of our nearest and dearest are silly enough to do something like that.
